Dr. Alexis Thomas
Dr. Thomas is a graduate of Central High School here in Kansas City, attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. and Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a native of Kansas City, Mo and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UMKC School of Medicine which utilized Truman Medical Center and Research Medical Center for her medical and Nephrology training. Although she does not actively teach at UMKC or TMC any longer, Dr. Thomas is still an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine there. Dr. Thomas has been in nephrology practice since 1982 and is the senior partner in her 8 physician practice and also the Medical Director for one of 10 area Fresenius dialysis units her group oversees as well as for Fresenius' Home Dialysis Services. She follows her patients closely and incorporates their social issues into their care plan. Dr. Thomas makes herself available to patients and even returns calls in the evening when necessary. She routinely attends continuing medical education seminars to keep updated on the latest breakthroughs in her field. Dr. Thomas has a special interest in organ transplantation and educating the community regarding organ transplantation myths. She has participated in many educational sessions for the minority community regarding chronic kidney disease and encourages live donor transplants. [back to contacts]
Dr. Harriet Langley
Dr. Langley joined Midwest Nephrology Consultants in 1985 after completing three years of Internal Medicine Residency, an additional year as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine, and a two year Nephrology Fellowship. She enjoys patient care immensely and has close relationships with patients and their families as she strives to deliver the best care possible. Dr. Langley is the immediate past president of the Board of Trustees of Menorah Medical Center and has been a recent President of the Medical Staff. She is active at many hospitals in the greater Kansas City area and has offices at the Menorah campus, the Research campus, and the Centerpoint campus. Dr. Langley enjoys teaching medical residents and medical students and remains a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the UMKC School of Medicine. Dr. Langley and husband Rick are the proud parents of four children ranging in age from fifteen to twenty.

Dr. Nancy Birenboim
Dr. Birenboim joined Midwest Nephrology Consultants in 1986 after completion of her medical training at Albert Einstein Medical School in New York and the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Birenboim's outpatient nephrology practice is focused predominantly in Eastern Jackson county. Her emphasis in the office is focusing on addressing her patients' individual questions and concerns regarding their medical problems. She has created a team approach of availability and attention to patient education with the assistance of MNC's dedicated support staff. Dr. Birenboim particularly allows extra time for new patients in order to lay a groundwork of trust and potential hopefulness in one's adapting to living with chronic medical problems. Although the complexity of each of her patient's medical problems vary from benign hypertension to complications of a kidney transplant, she prides herself on giving the same amount of attention to each patient regardless of the individual's diagnosis.

Dr. Subramanian Sivarajan
Dr. Sivarajan joined Midwest Nephrology Consultants in 1993 after training at Georgetown University, Washington DC. He is also Medical Director for Fresenius Medical Care-Blue Springs Dialysis and is on staff at most of the hospitals in the greater Kansas City area as well as staffing an outreach nephrology clinic in Harrisonville, Missouri. The primary focus of his practice is the Eastern Jackson County area. Dr. Sivarajan is very responsive to the needs of his patients with the help of MNC's dedicated support staff. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf.

Dr. Max Glaser
Dr. Glaser has been a board certified, practicing nephrologist since 1995. He has been a practice partner with Midwest Nephrology Consultants since 1996. In 2002, Dr. Glaser completed additional training to begin performing interventional nephrology procedures to care for the practices' dialysis patients' interventional access needs. As the practice's primary interventionalist, he devotes a major part of his professional time to interventional procedure work, performing over 450 procedures annually. Dr. Glaser is a committed and caring nephrologist with a "one-on-one" style, interacting and really listening to his patients' concerns. Their comfort and welfare are his top priority. Dr. Glaser and his family reside in Overland Park, Kansas.

Dr. Robert Golder
Dr Golder is a graduate of UMKC School of Medicine and Washington University. He joined Midwest Nephrology Consultants in 1997 and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr. Golder is a Medical Director for Fresenius Dialysis Center - Raytown. He is on staff at most major hospitals in the Kansas City area and is actively involved with medical students and residency programs locally. Dr. Golder is an active participant in educating his patients about their renal disease and what they can expect during their treatment course and is very involved with their care and follow-up. Dr. Golder’s practice focus is primarily in the Kansas City MO area, but also follows patients at an outreach clinic in Harrisonville MO. In his free time Dr. Golder enjoys spending time with his son and daughter, reading, movies and travel.

Dr. Alexandr Arakelov
Dr. Arakelov holds board certifications in both internal medicine and nephrology. He is a graduate of Emory University, completing his nephrology fellowship there. Dr. Arakelov joined Midwest Nephrology Consultants in 2000. His practice focus is in the eastern part of the KC Metropolitan area, specifically the Independence and Lee's Summit areas. Along with Dr. Glaser, he also practices interventional nephrology to care for the practices' dialysis patients' interventional access needs. Dr. Arakelov is dedicated to his practice, his patients, and ensuring all aspects of their renal care are managed appropriately. Dr. Arakelov and his family reside in Mission Hills, Kansas. Dr. Abid Khan
Dr Khan joined Midwest Nephrology in 2008 and is a graduate of the University of Missouri Kansas City, completing his fellowship training at the University of Minnesota. Dr Khan enjoys spending time with his patients and focuses on describing the medical condition, how it's diagnosed, and how it is treated. He takes particular pride in providing simple, thorough explanations of complex disease processes and making sure all questions are answered before he leaves the room. Dr Khan makes it a point to see his patients in a timely manner and is always available for questions that may arise after the visit. Dr. Khan also follows patients in the Richmond outreach clinic.
